I had a great conversation with a good friend of mine over the weekend. He is a big fellow, but started doing Weight Watchers about a year ago and has already gone from 385 to 325 pounds using their point system. This BLEW ME AWAY! He knows he has a long way to go, but he had awesome things to say about WW and this isn’t the first time I’ve heard it. My parents did it a few years back and were pretty successful and I have 2 close girl friends who dropped upwards of 80 pounds when they were on it.
I’m not looking to drop that drastically (or I would weigh less than 100 pounds! ick), but I wanted to get y’all’s feedback. What do you think about Weight Watchers? Has anyone done it and had great success? Has anyone done it and hated it? I know the POINTS system is more than just counting calories- it takes fiber and fat into account, too, right? How does that affect weight loss? Am I better off simply sticking to a calorie budget, trying to eat right, and exercising?
The only reason I haven’t joined Weight Watchers in the past is for money reasons. I am trying to save up to move to Chicago, so I really can’t afford the extra monthly expense, but my friend assured me you don’t have to actually join to be able to do the program. The benefit of joining for me would be the weekly weigh-ins and meetings. I like the idea of other people holding me accountable and tracking my progress- it helps me stick to what I’m trying to do if I know someone else will be disappointed in me when I stray. I can deal with disappointing myself, but having the encouragement of others on my weight-loss journey could really help. This Tumblr certainly does. :)
